Why this is free
This industry is short on technicians, and the training that exists is mostly expensive, scattered, or locked behind a membership. That is a bad way to bring people into a trade that keeps buildings from burning down. So I wrote my own, I am giving it away, and I am not putting a form in front of the part that teaches you something. Read every lesson without an account. Make one only if you want your progress to follow you to the next device.
The architecture
Five documents, one chain of authority
Most people learn these codes as five unrelated books. They are not. They are a chain, each one hands off to the next, and knowing the handoffs is what separates someone who quotes rules from someone who understands them.
The courses
Pick where you want to start
New to the trade? Start with NFPA 72. Studying for a credential? Go straight to the NICET track. Nothing is locked, and you can move between them however you like.
How it works
Built for studying in a truck, not a classroom
Read the lesson
Short, plain-English lessons with the code section numbers cited so you can go read the real thing yourself.
Take the challenge
Every lesson ends with challenge questions. You get the reasoning behind the right answer, not just a score.
Earn the badge
Score 80% or better and the lesson badge is yours. Badges track what you have genuinely covered.
Keep your progress
Optional free account syncs your progress and scores across your phone, your laptop, and the shop computer.
